Day care and respite care for young adults
Day and respite centre for the care of young adults with any disability
Preparing you for Transition
Marigold Centre is a state-of-the-art disability day care centre for young adults and a four room respite care facility in the heart of the conservation area, close to the sea front and centre of Southend, you'll find us at 62 Avenue Road, Westcliffe on Sea, Essex, SS0 7PJ.
The Marigold Centre, formally a family centre, is a beautiful period building in the conservation area and, after extensive conversion, is ideally suited for both disability day care and disability respite care use. The Marigold has been modeled on the successful Woodside disability day care centre, with a few additions. The main difference is the ability to offer respite care, along side day care, for students with a wide range of disabilities, including those who require nursing or personal care, have learning disabilities, physical disabilities, or sensory impairments.
There are four good-sized activity rooms including a large screen T.V. room, with all the electronic games, X box, Wii, etcetera. There are rooms dedicated to activities, arts and crafts, such as painting and pottery, generally making a mess, and of course, the chill out room, for having some quiet time. Howdens Kitchen Suppliers have fitting a state-of-the-art fully-accessible kitchen where we encourage cooking skills, and there are three fully-accessible bathrooms on the ground floor. Outside we have a lovely mature front garden for those with green fingers and a large activity garden at the rear to enjoy, with artificial grass for all year use. Upstairs, which is accessible either via a lift or stairs, we have four fully-accessible en-suite bedrooms for our respite guests.
The Marigold Centre comes with fully trained and friendly staff encouraging life skills, always there to help and take the very best care of all the students. Of course, in addition to a great building, the location of the Marigold enables easy access to Southend, just ten minutes away, as well as the cliffs and Southend seafront right on the doorstep. Marigold, just like Woodside will have its own vehicles, not just providing transport to and from the centre, but for trips during the day, such as just ride, bowling or an introduction to golf.
